Hearts to Hands CLT — Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve

Hearts to Love. Hands to Serve.
Why We Serve

Faith without action is just words — no one should be invisible — so we show up, every time, with everything we have.

How We Serve

When someone can’t find us, we find them — right where they are, face to face, to look them in the eye and make them feel truly seen.

Our Story

It started with a friendship that showed up.

Faith with feet — the morning it all began.

On Charlotte’s streets, Mike & Kendra kept passing the same unhoused faces — people the city had learned to look past. Five days before Thanksgiving 2018, they decided those friends should be seen. It began as a plan to feed a dozen or so — and Kendra posted it to Facebook.

Sadly this is the first Thanksgiving I won’t be spending with family. HOWEVER!! The Lord says I have a bigger mission!! We have a calling to feed 12 or so homeless folks in uptown Charlotte on Thursday. Friends, I challenge you to join us (either in person or through any donation that will go directly to this cause). As we figure this all out over the next few days, please PRAY for us — that we may bring JOY to the oppressed and be a witness for CHRIST.

and then it took on a life of its own

The answer came faster than they could plan for. In the first three days, monetary donations grew the plan from a dozen meals to 30 — and Kimberly alone turned out 30 dozen cookies. “Move over, Betty Crocker.”

While Mike and Kendra picked up the meals they’d had catered, The Sports Page Coulwood donated most of the food from its own cancelled holiday catering orders — suddenly, close to 100 meals’ worth. They packed 80 tins, 40 in each fridge, and fired up both ovens at dawn.

On Thanksgiving morning, ten people who’d reached out to help gave up part of their own holiday to deliver the meals alongside them. Two hopeful hearts had become a dozen serving hearts.
